A leading UK breast surgeon will give a free public talk in Letterkenny on understanding the impact of a family member’s breast cancer diagnosis.

Mr Peter Barry, Consultant Breast and Oncoplastic Surgeon Royal Marsden Hospital London, will deliver an invited lecture for the public and general practitioners on Thursday 30th November at Silver  Tassie at 7 pm until 8pm.

The lecture is titled: “A family member has breast cancer, what does this mean for me?”

Mr Barry will be the medical guest of honour at the 12th Annual North West Breast Cancer Charity Ball on Friday December 1st.

Mr Barry qualified from University of Sydney, Australia, in 2000. He obtained a Fellowship in  Surgical Oncology and undertook a clinical fellowship in sarcoma and melanoma and with the Breast Unit at The Royal Marsden from 2000–02. 

He had a surgical oncology practice in Australia, with an interest in breast oncoplastic techniques and reconstructive options following cancer surgery as well as preventative surgery for high-risk women. He also performs ultrasound of the breast in the clinic and  operating theatre to localise breast lesions. He joined the Breast Unit at The Royal Marsden as a consultant in August 2012.
