It’s less than a week to go to the Looking Back – Moving Forward Donegal Women in Business Network 20th Anniversary Conference.

And one of the many local women who are excited about the event is Ireland AM Presenter Ciara Doherty.

The popular Letterkenny native will be back in her home county to host the special conference at Lough Eske Castle this Tuesday 1st October. There’s still time to book your ticket now at: www.eventbrite.ie

Ciara is also back on our screens on Virgin Media One’s Ireland AM, having taken maternity leave after welcoming her first child, a baby girl, in February.

Ciara is passionate about her beloved Donegal and is perfectly positioned to chair to a series of panel discussions on forging business success in the border county for the 20th anniversary conference of the Donegal Network. Around 200 women are expected to gather for this engaging and insightful event.

The Donegal Women In Business Network, founded from a fledgling group 20 years ago, set about inspiring, influencing, supporting and above all connecting women in business and the workplace across the county.

From Donegal Town, Killybegs, the Donegal Gaeltacht Region in the west to Letterkenny, and the northerly points of Inishowen, the network has since attracted a strong and  varied membership of 140 progressive business women.

It’s current President is Deirdre Mc Glone, former hotelier who earlier this year sold the award winning Harvey’s Point Hotel which she developed over 30 years alongside her Swiss husband Marc Gysling.

“I’m honoured and very excited to be part of the movement of the Donegal Women in Business Network as technology, tourism,  access and recognition create many new opportunities for business in Donegal today. Key to success is the connecting of Donegal, both at home and abroad which is the bedrock of our Donegal Women in Business network,” Deirdre said.

A varied mix of businesswomen and representatives from many industries and stages of business will be sharing their stories. The keynote speakers are Rosaleen Hegarty of Crana Knits, Laura Bonner of Muff Liquor Co and Rosy Temple of Magee 1866.

The conference opens at 10am in Lough Eske Castle Donegal Town with a series of panel discussions and will  be followed throughout the day with a number of practical and insightful workshops and discussion groups based on the key challenges to women in business in Donegal today.
