Donegal woman Megan Rose proudly presented €5,720 to Cancer Care West today following a successful walking fundraiser.

Megan conquered a massive 300km by walking in her local area throughout the month of March.

She received generous support every step of the way from friends and family donating to her campaign.

The challenge was inspired by the invaluable support Megan’s own family received from Cancer Care West in the past. The charity is dedicated to helping anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis through the provision of residential accommodation and support services.

Megan and her father Tommy Rose met with Gráinne McGettigan, Donegal Fundraiser for Cancer Care West, to present the proceeds of the fundraiser.

Ms McGettigan, expressing gratitude to Megan, said: “Fundraising has been very difficult during the Lockdown but unfortunately the demand for cancer care doesn’t stop and we really appreciate what Megan has done.”

On completion of her challenge last week, Megan said: “Cancer Care West is a charity close to my heart and I am delighted to have been able to do this to give back and to help in someone else’s journey.”

“Thank you to my family, friends and neighbours for all the support over the last month, from donations to the kind messages of encouragement. What a great bunch I have around me! Your generosity knows no bounds!”
