With a reopening date set for gyms, Emmet from Rushe Fitness says now is the time to get your head around a health and fitness routine.

With the country beginning to reopen and life starting to get back to normal, it is important to remember to schedule time for your health and fitness into your routine.

It is extremely easy to let it slide and continue the trend of doing little to no exercise as many have for the past year. But this may leave you in a worse place than when you 1st stopped in early 2020.

So, as gyms get ready to reopen on June 7th, now is the time to start to get your head around getting back to exercise and back into your health and fitness routine.

The question that will be running through many people’s minds as they plan this out however, is;

“What if I fail?”

One of the biggest fears that people have when it comes to failure is how they will look to others.

  • They worry about if they will be as fit as those in the gym.
  • The embarrassment they will feel if they were not able to keep up.
  • The feeling of being under scrutiny by other members and the coaches.
  • The worry of not remembering or knowing what to do.

These are all things that can stop people from starting, as it is easier and more comfortable to stay away from the gym and leave it until later.

But later never comes and leaving it longer will only increase the feelings of fear and self-doubt.

The reality is this!

No-one will notice what you are doing in the gym.

They will be to be preoccupied with what they are doing themselves.

The coaches aren’t there to scrutinise you.

They are there to help you and keep you on track.

No-one will be at the same level of fitness as when they left last year.

We will all be in the same boat and everyone returning will be more than glad to help others out if needed.

Our Rushe Fitness members are some of the most supportive people I know and they are always happy to welcome new members in and help them out.

You really don’t need to worry about returning to the gym. I know there will be many thoughts running through your head at the tough of it, but you will be fine.

You should be more worried if you don’t.

Our health and fitness is more important than ever right now and if the last year has taught us anything, it is we need to actively be looking after our health. So be sure to get back on track as soon as you can.

The main thing that you must do, is start.

Don’t spend so much time thinking about what you should do and all the possible pitfalls that may come along the way, that you never actually act on this and get started.

Whatever your goal – start!

Do it now.

Don’t wait until the last minute, as this will give you more time to talk yourself out of it.

Or worse still, the gyms could be booked up with people looking to get back after year away.
