What a difference conditioning makes!
If your hair has had its own dry January, a cut and a hydrating treatment is the only way to rescue and refresh.
And there’s no better feeling than a healthy cut and good conditioning.
I visited Patrick Gildea Hairdressing last weekend for some quick hair maintenance – a cut, toner and conditioning.

There’s a touch of luxury about every treatment on the ‘Guest Menu’ at Patrick Gildea’s. I didn’t expect so much pampering though!
The ‘Super Deluxe’ conditioning treatment was just that – super deluxe. My visit started with a toner with Florrie before the 10 minute conditioning treatment with Bronagh.
First, you are wrapped in a fluffy blanket before having lavender oil spritzed over you. Three deep breaths later and you are treated to a full head massage. Just bliss!
Bronagh explained how the massage is a mix of Indian and Swedish styles to stimulate the scalp. The intense hydrating conditioner pumps moisture into the hair and the ‘Super Deluxe’ option delivers moisture on a deeper level. All conditioning treatments on the menu include a massage, but you can book the ‘G’ massage separately too.
My hair needed moisture, but there are options for people who have psoriasis or dandruff, or for people with thinning hair. Patrick Gildea has a Dermabrasion/Exfoliator Purifier treatment that is like ‘a facial for the scalp’, Style Directors Sharon told me, and it’s a great benefit for people regrowing their hair post-chemo.
Conditioning all depends on hair type, and you can get a treatment as often as every fortnight. Sharon was my stylist for my haircut and blowdry this time, and she also adjusted the hair products she used based on my hair’s EnergyCode – which needed some sliver/blue toned System Professional shampoo to brighten my colour.
After a cut, it was Dyson time! This is hands-down my favourite styling tool now. The Dyson Airwrap creates big bouncy healthy curls and volume like nothing else. And with a fresh cut, the curls lasted so well over the next three days. Thank you Sharon, Florrie, Bronagh and Elaine.
