An iconic Irish comedy figure is joining the family.

Channel 4’s Derry Girls has been likened to a modern-day Father Ted by many, and tonight we’ll see a familiar face from Craggy Island on the Northern Irish comedy.

Irish comedian Ardal O’Hanlon won’t be appearing as Fr Dougal now, (let’s not get too excited), but he promises to bring a fresh and funny character to tonight’s programme.

Ardal will guest star as Eamonn, an awkward, middle-aged mummy’s boy of the Quinn/McCool extended family.

Erin’s family are set to cause uproar at a wedding in episode four. We can look forward to the family tensions giving rise to some hilarious exchanges between fiery Ma Mary and an old aunt, but things will take a grave turn.

The girls and James seem to always attract trouble, and their actions this time will have very serious consequences, especially for cousin Eamonn.

Tune in to Channel 4 at 9.15pm tonight (Tuesday) for more comedy from our favourite girls.
