Inishowen chef Kieran ‘Duey’ Doherty beat off competition from foodies around the planet in Rhode Island to be crowned World Chowder Champion.

Kieran, who runs the wonderful Nancy’s Barn in Ballyliffin, was overcome with delight but getting ready to party.

“We won the world championships. Updates to follow we are thrilled. Thank you everybody. Kieran and crew. Party time,” he said.

Kieran trained at Killybegs Catering College before going on to open up his own place in the heart of Inishowen.

And it is from there that himself and his team have gone on to build up one of the biggest reputations in the food world.

Congratulations flowed in from around Donegal, Ireland and the rest of the world for Kieran and his team.

Among the first to congratulate the Inishowen chef was the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) as well as his many family and friends.
