The McElhinneys #BeAnIndividual Fashion Show was a colourful journey through diverse designs for Spring/Summer 2018. Let's look back on the key trends:

Creative Designer Eilish Kennedy and the team of buyers at McElhinneys clearly had fun choosing their collections this year. They have filled the store with bright, vibrant and extraordinary pieces to mix and match all summer long.

Leading the fashion show on Thursday night, Eilish expertly guided guests through the five key trends of the season:

Ice Cream Girl: This look is about sweet and light pastel tones, with powder blue jeans for a casual vibe and fresh colours for occasionwear.

By the Sea: Nautical style has sailed back into fashion, with navy, blue, red and striped looks. These ensembles are very Tommy Hilfiger inspired, and would be ideal for city breaks day by the seaside.

Asian Fusion: Stunning silks, wraps, and jumpsuits make this trend a bold and versatile option. McElhinneys have transitioned the trend into summer by choosing colourful pieces in key shades of red, pastels and blues.

Ruffles and Frills: Those big fancy feminine sleeves aren’t going anywhere – in fact, they’re getting bigger in 2018. We saw ruffles, tassels and elegant elements in this collection, where the simplest styles are given the wow factor.

Colour Blocking: The final display was a tropical pop of fruity colour, including orange, peach, watermelon, raspberry and strawberry. Pairing brights takes confidence, but that’s what Be An Individual is all about.

Guests also heard from buyers Amanda McDermott (Accessories) and Iris McLaughlin (Ladies Footwear) who shared top tips for year-long trends to invest in now.

Amanda recommends orange as a key colour for handbags this year, while Iris was a big advocate for embellished ’all singing, all dancing’ trainers.

The Menswear range at McElhinneys follows similar trends this season. Soft pastel colours, casual nauticals and asian-inspired cuts are in. In Childrenswear, it’s all about expressing personality with vibrant pops of colour.

The fashion show marks the beginning of an exciting weekend of events at McElhinneys. Each day of the #BeAnIndividual Launch Weekend will have expert masterclasses, workshops, offers and giveaways to build up to the Official Beauty Hall Opening on Saturday at 2pm with Suzanne Jackson – So Sue Me. We’ll see you there!
