Stylist Breid McDaid shows us how grey is having a major sartorial revival.

Although we are currently in the process of transitioning into the Spring season, we still require the inclusion of some subtle muted shades in our capsule wardrobe. Whether it be in the form of outerwear or basics, grey is a welcome alternative to black during the transition season.

Grey was one of the most popular hues of A/W 16 and there’s no question as to why! As a shade that compliments an array of colours, from the electric blue to Khacki tones and blush pinks, the potential is limitless.

If you’re one of the many women drawn to the colour black and find it difficult to leave it behind, combining this darker shade with a softer tone in grey can prove effective in achieving a look that’s classic, minimalistic and chic all in one.

What way will you choose to incorporate the colour? Be it with a tailored blazer/ long line duster/ jacket or a pair of fabulous culottes, the options are vast.

Grey doesn’t have to boring, don’t be afraid to create interest by playing with texture and print if minimalism is not on your radar. Jacquard print, checked, and pinstripe, with fabrics in bouclé and fur are some options that can aid in creating a sharp, statement look! Mix and match key pieces for an on trend look that will bring you anywhere.

I hope you find this piece of some interest and that it may inspire you to find your perfect shade of grey. Until next time,
