Three inspirational dippers from Donegal are on track to raise almost €3,000 for Cancer Care West following a month of sea swims.

Sisters Evanna Schorderet and Gráinne McGettigan along with their niece Gwen Barry braved the waves at Mountcharles every day for the month of September.

Rain or shine, the trio stayed dedicated to their ‘Big C Swim’.

And if one of them was travelling, they either had a stand-in or took a dip elsewhere, bringing the challenge to Arranmore and Wexford!

Gráinne, Evanna and Gwen, who called their team the ‘Shore Cottage Babes’, are wrapping up their fundraiser this Friday but there is still time to congratulate them and donate at: https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/11450245

Gráinne McGettigan, who is the Regional Fundraiser at Cancer Care West, said the money raised will go a long way to maintaining the local services at the centre in Letterkenny.

“Fundraising has been tough over the last two years but Donegal people are so generous and so good,” Gráinne said.

The Cancer Care West centre is open for drop-in services and appointments for anyone affected by cancer.

The centre on Pearse Road Letterkenny is staffed by psychologists, oncology nurses and a range of qualified cancer support specialists. Support is provided free of charge to cancer patients alongside their medical treatment, whether you’re newly diagnosed, facing a recurrence or are dealing with side effects of treatment. The centre also provides a Psycho-Oncology counselling service into the local hospital at Letterkenny University Hospital for patients affected by cancer.
