A public discussion will be taking place in Letterkenny this week on alcohol and the lesser known effects it has on women’s health and mental health.

The event, taking place on Thursday 22nd September, looks at the increasingly negative impact of both alcohol and the strategies of the alcohol industry on women’s health.

Discussions will unveil “what the alcohol industry really doesn’t want you to know” about alcohol and its link with cancer.

The event is organised by Alcohol Forum Ireland in association with colleagues in the Donegal Women’s Centre and Atlantic Technological University.

This is an in person event and will take place in at 7pm until 8.30pm on 22nd September in Room 1401 of the Letterkenny campus of Atlantic Technological University (formerly LYIT). There will be a cuppa and a chat after.

At the workshop, attendees will have an opportunity to learn about and discuss a range of topics including:

  • The relationship between alcohol and cancer (particularly breast cancer, with 1 in 8 breast cancers linked to alcohol)
  • The impact of alcohol on women’s mental health and physical health
  • How the strategies of the alcohol industry have created doubt and confusion about the science in relation to women’s health

Places are limited. To register please email Andrea@alcoholforum.org.
