If all this time at home is making your want to cook better and impress with delicious bakes – Donegal Chef Brian McDermott is here to help.

The celebrity chef is launching a new series of online cookery classes to help us to sharpen our skills at home.

Brian will be opening up his home kitchen to the world – virtually – to share his secrets with both beginner and confident cooks. We can imagine this would be a fun activity for a date night, breakfast celebration or baking with the kids. A booking could also be a great gift for a foodie friend – and you can connect with them from your home too.

The classes begin from 18th November and you can choose from a selection of themes on chefbrianmcdermott.com including ‘Donegal Table’, ‘Dinner Date At Home’, ‘Christmas Baking’ and ‘One Pot Winter Warmers’.

Participants will be supplied with their recipes in advance and can either follow along with Brian every step of the recipe or sit back and enjoy the show, filmed by his wife Brenda, who is their new in-house photographer.

“This year I’ve tried to make the most of lockdown by reconnecting with what matters most – and, for me, that’s always been my family and the food we eat,” Brian says.

“Sitting down to eat together at our kitchen table became the focal point of each day for my wife Brenda and I and our daughters, Niamh and Aoife, and they’ve inspired me to share those skills – and recipes – so that everyone can enjoy the warmth and comfort of coming together around food.

“That’s why I’ve decided to relaunch my online cookery classes to share my home kitchen directly with yours via my new website, www.chefbrianmcdermott.com.”

Brian is one of Ireland’s leading celebrity chefs and is an established presence on RTÉ and BBC television and radio, and on the food festival circuit, who has now revamped his website and teaching style for the virtual world due to the impact of Covid-19.

Some of the cookery classes will be centred around Brian McDermott’s global award-winning book ‘Donegal Table’

Brian adds “I never thought I would be delivering cookery classes online but I’m excited to be able to share my recipes and love of food even with the restrictions imposed by Covid-19.

“Connecting with family over good food kept me going over lockdown, and I’m thrilled to be able to launch a new programme of classes right up until April 2021.

“It’s never been as important to be cooking better at home as food is what fuels us all.  Togetherness at the home table is back.”
