Anam Cara, the charity that supports bereaved parents nationwide, has made the decision to bring all their services online under Level 3 restrictions.

All online group meetings and one to one support calls will go online until further notice to continue supporting parents as they cope with the grief and loss of losing a child.

Anam Cara CEO Sharon Vard said “There is so much uncertainly while we are living with the Covid 19 pandemic, Unfortunately we have no control over these changing restrictions,  however we do have control over how we deliver our services, ensuring bereaved parents, who are our priority at this difficult time, have access to information and support”. She continued “We are pleased to be able to offer all bereaved parents support online either in a group or one to one setting. We know bereaved parents are devastated, feeling isolated and lonely after the death of their son or daughter, Covid 19 has compounded these feelings. We want to support and offer hope to bereaved parents”.

Speaking following one of the previous online meetings, a bereaved parent commented: “I am so delighted to have gone on. I had not realised how much I had missed the support from this group. I felt something had been lifted off my shoulders and came away feeling so much better than before I had gone on”.
