Are you using the correct cleanser for your skin’s needs

Why is it so important that we start our routine with the appropriate cleanser that suits your skin?

To prevent stripping of the acid mantle (protective barrier) outer layer of our skin. If we cleanse with the wrong product/Ingredients we impair the barrier and in time it will result in many skin issues, premature ageing, irritated inflamed, shiny, excessively dry unbalanced skin.

If your skin feels very tight, inflamed and dry after you cleanse, it is a true indication that it is too harsh on your skin. It’s very important it feels soft, supple, hydrated and moist.

There are many forms of cleansers, gels/foams (which a lot of people like to use to give that squeaky clean feeling but in turn is actually causing long term damage) There are oils, milks, lotions, powders and some have exfoliating ingredients which can again strip away at that protective barrier if used on the wrong skin on a daily basis.

Another important part of cleansing is the application and removal of it.
There are so many brushes, machines, sponges, gloves, etc that claim to cleanse, but these can be as harmful as your cleanser.

Apply the appropriate amount and make sure to massage it into the skin in order to allow the ingredients to penetrate and break down the impurities, bacteria, sweat & makeup. Then with a soft fresh dampened face cloth gently remove off the skin.

Double cleansing is very important at night, first cleanse is to remove the impurities/make up etc and the 2nd cleanse is to cleanse the skin and prepare it for the next skincare step which will allow excellent penetration.

I hope this helps and if you have any further questions please feel free to contact me on Facebook @Skin & Brows by Clare
