As winter party season begins, I visited Patrick Gildea Hairdressing before the Chamber Ball to find out what's trending in updos.
Party season 2019 is so close now – and for some it’s already here!
I’ve been in the festive mood since the Halloween decorations were put away, and I was only delighted to see the stunning Patrick Gildea Christmas Tree up in the salon this week – with scissors on the top of course!
The first event I had this season was the Letterkenny Chamber Ball on Friday, and I wanted to add a little bit of sparkle to an updo.
It turns out that accessorising hair is a top trend of 2019, as Style Director Sharon Higgins told me that the team have seen loads of pieces being used recently.
I love hairbands for casual days and for formal looks, and I had bought a new gold embellished piece from Boohoo to use for the ball. With just a few photos as examples, Sharon knew exactly what I wanted to do with the band and created a soft updo around it.
What I love about Christmas parties is that you can always go a little extra on the makeup, hair or clothing. Sharon added more body and structure to my hair for the ball and I was so happy with the volume and neat finish.
Sharon said that many other guests have been opting for softer updos this year – plaits and curls are popular. As we approach Christmas, it’s always nice to add some sparkle and accessories like clips and bands.
My jumpsuit for the ball had gold detailing on the belt, so I loved how the crown band brought the look altogether.
The Christmas buzz is really beginning now at Patrick Gildea Hairdressing, and while I didn’t have time to get my makeup done by the talented team this week, I can’t wait to be back for more party hair styles and visits to the Allure beauty rooms!
