Claire Mc Donough shares inspiration for decorating a baby's nursery with versatile themes.

Our latest Design Blog is all about those precious little people in our lives… babies!!

It can be so exciting to begin to plan a nursery scheme, especially for the first baby, as its an entirely new concept.  The easy part is doing the list of items you need such as the cot, changer, comfy chair for night time feeds etc. The challenge though can be what theme or colour scheme to create. Over at La Maison we create at least one nursery a week! And each one is different and tailored to the special little baby.

To share some inspiration with you, you can visit Babyzone in Letterkenny to see a funky, unisex scheme we created to complement their beautiful new Stamford range of nursery furniture. This scheme is so versatile and would work well for a girl or a boy and indeed would then work for baby number two as well…..should you be planning already!

Babyzone Interior

This scheme was designed around the beautiful deep grey of the furniture and has central colours of orange and teal which work equally well for a girl or a boy.

The lush curtains are double faced for display purposes, but they allowed us to showcase some beautiful fabrics as well and two ways to finish curtains differently. The striking wallpaper was our starting point with appealing colours and bold graphics sure to amuse any small baby.

However, if you are more inclined to create a traditional nursery scheme for your little boy or girl, we also prepare little schemes below to give you some inspiration.

If you or someone you know is planning a nursery scheme soon and doesn’t know where to start, then please call into to one of our lovely Designers and we would be delighted to help!
