If your home is feeling drab now that the Christmas decorations are down, Anne Tuohy is inspiring you to take the plunge and finally create your dream space.

Happy New Year!

On Monday, I played some uplifting music, took down my Christmas trees and all my decorations, and gave my house a good clean. This is something that I actually enjoy doing, because as I do so, I welcome the New Year, and all the positive things it may bring to me and my family. Our oldest son Richard was home from Australia, and we had the best Christmas possible, with all of us together again.

However, as I put everything away for another year, I am always struck by how tired and drab my home looks when all the decorations and twinkling lights are gone.

If you feel the same way, I am going to devote the next few weeks of this column to inspiring you to take the plunge, and make 2020 the year that you finally tackle your house, and turn it into the dream home that you deserve it to be.

If you want to redecorate, I will show you how to choose a colour scheme that really works, which flows throughout your home, creating calmness and balance.

If you want to try out some of the amazing grey colours that are here to stay, I will share with you my foolproof way to make them work perfectly in your home.

If you have a perfectly good kitchen, built in wardrobe or piece of furniture, that is however dated and drab, I will inspire you to pick up a paintbrush, and effect an immediate transformation.

We sold our home at the end of the year and moved house, so if you are thinking of selling your home, I will show you how to stage your home for sale, so that you get the strongest possible price, in the shortest possible time.

Or, if there is something in particular that you struggle with in your own home, leave me a message in the comments, and I will happily cover that for you too.

So, over the next few weeks I will share all this inspiration with you here in Donegal Woman, and together, we will make 2020 the year of your dream home!

Last year, I made the decision to only undertake full design projects in 2019. That meant the complete, start to finish design of a room, an extension, a new build, a workplace, a restaurant, a hotel, a showhouse etc. I am thrilled to say that I was fortunate to design some spectacular new builds, and also some home extensions and renovations.

The year also saw me design two passive homes, which was a fantastic new experience for me. I also designed the tiny pods on the Wild Atlantic Way, which turned into my pet project.

I have also really enjoyed writing this interiors column with Donegal Woman, with my weekly design inspiration article.

I’m genuinely thrilled to say that this past year,  I have been featured in The Sunday Times, The Irish Times, The Irish Independent, Irish Country Woman magazine, The Irish Daily Mail, The Irish Examiner, the UK glossy magazine Woman, and I have just finished an interview with another prestigious UK glossy magazine.

I was also invited to participate in Newstalk FM’s’ The Home Show, and they have even invited me back.

So much excitement  planned for 2020!

Because of a slight pivot in what I will be doing this year, I am hosting my last ever Masterclass on Saturday January 18th, and it will take place in Letterkenny. This is going to be such a special day, because it is the very final class. I’m actually going to take this class to another level, with lots of new content and inspiration to share.

May 2020 be your best year ever. I actually have a very good feeling about this year for all of us here at Donegal Woman.

Stay fabulous.
