Thursdays won't be the same when they stop being 'Derry Girls Day'

Our favourite comedy of the year so far is coming to a close as the final Derry Girls episode airs tonight.

The six-part series brought viewers on a whirlwind adventure of life in 1990s Derry, with many scenes and events familiar to Donegal folks too.

The good news is that Derry Girls won’t be winding up for good, as writer Lisa McGee has been asked to create another series, because it was just that class.

After the gang’s disastrous journey to Donegal last week, they’re back causing havoc at Immaculate Conception school.

Erin has been appointed the prestigious role of school magazine editor. She’s over the moon at first, but in this preview clip from Channel4.com we see the pressure becoming too much as the deadline looms.

Erin has to enlist her pals to help, and in the panicked moment Michelle shares some cracking weather colloquialisms – it’s either Baltic or Boilin’.

They resolve to break one of worst sins of journalism – stealing other peoples’ work and passing it off as their own. No doubt this will come back and bite them.

When there’s trouble at school, we’re sure to see Sr Micheal doling out the punishments, and we’ll be looking forward to more dry wit from the Daniel O’Donnell-loving nun.

Meanwhile, Orla develops an obsession with step aerobics, Erin’s parents have a major fall out and there’s romance for Aunt Sarah.

Tune into Channel4 at 10pm tonight (Thursday) to catch the series finale… *sigh*
