In the first of the Donegal Woman Wedding Album series, we look back on Niamh and Paul's beachside wedding.

Strolls along the beach, funny filters and Bruce Springsteen tributes made up the memorable wedding day of Burtonport couple Niamh Boner and Paul Ferry.

They had known each other since their schooldays, and had been an item for six years before tying the knot on the 7th of October 2016.

They were married by Fr Pat Ward in front of all their nearest and dearest at St. Mary’s, Kincasslagh.

Parish priest Fr. Ward is now famously known as the ‘Selfie Priest’, and he had some fun with these newlyweds too by putting Snapchat filters on them.

The couple took some time out during the day to enjoy a walk along the beach together at Mullaghderg.

The biggest surprise of the day happened at their reception in the Silver Tassie Hotel, outside Letterkenny.

Usually, the speech from the father of the bride shows who’s boss, but no-one expected three versions of The Boss to make an appearance!

Niamh’s father Leo went One Step Up with the speech and he played a homemade video rendition of Bruce Springsteen’s Hungry Heart – with himself, Paul’s father Owen, and Fr Ward making a special appearance.

“I’d say for both of us the best part of the day was that video, because it was so unexpected and it got a great laugh from everyone in the hotel,” Niamh told Donegal Woman.

After the big day, Niamh and Paul jetted off to Italy. They had a ten-day trip through the country, taking in Rome, Sorrento and Positano.

A month on, the couple are enjoying married life and joining the celebrations of their friends as they also get married.
