Greencastle poet and artist Lorraine Carey is set to return to her roots in Inishowen to lead a special maritime-themed writing workshop.

The ‘Spindrift and Sea Salt’ event will take place at Serenity House, Moville, on Saturday, June 29th, from 10am to 4pm. This full-day workshop promises to be an enriching experience for aspiring and seasoned writers alike.

Lorraine was born in Coventry and grew up in Greencastle. She now resides in Kerry with her family. However, her connection to Inishowen remains strong, as the scenic landscapes of her childhood continue to inspire her work.

Her debut collection, From Doll House Windows, has been widely acclaimed and is available through Revival Press.

With her poetry featured in numerous anthologies, journals, and online platforms across the USA, Ireland, Britain, and Australia, Lorraine has made a significant mark on the literary scene. Her workshop at Serenity House will explore maritime themes such as resilience, loss and migration whilst capturing the wonders of our stunning coastline.

Using visual and written prompts, participants will read work by Billy Collins, Rita Dove, Norman Nicholson and others; creating new work in an informal, friendly and inspiring environment.

Writers of all levels are encouraged to join and immerse themselves in a day of creativity and learning under Lorraine’s expert guidance.
