There is heartfelt sadness in the local community following the passing of Maghery woman Tess Greene.

Tess had shared her battle with cancer online and gave so many others hope as she traveled on her own journey.

She wrote how she wanted to “change the language around cancer using love, honesty and determination.”

She certainly did that and will be forever remembered for it.

The Donegal Relay for Life team have paid tribute to Tess and reached out to her family including her daughter Millie.

A tribute on the group’s Facebook page said “Last night we were deeply saddened to hear the news that Tess, a past committee member and a beautiful lady had passed away. Tess bravely shared her story at Relay and was a valued committee member. She will be sorely missed.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this sad time, in particular we send our condolences to Tess’s lovely daughter Millie . May Tess rest in peace, we were lucky to have had her in our Relay family.”

Tess passed away in the loving care of the staff at the Donegal Hospice.

Tess was the much loved mother of Millie, daughter of Gerard and Beadie, sister of Gerard, Jenna (Jamesie), Megan and Josey, auntie to Liane, Tommylee, Jack, Jason, Ryan, Aaliyah and Assana and extended family.
