A daring West Donegal woman has conquered a brrr-illiant swimming challenge of 100 daily dips for charity.

Inspirational Elaine Boyle from Rannafast celebrated her 100th day of swimming on Saturday with a huge crowd of family and friends cheering her on.

The cold weather never deterred Elaine from braving the boat strand every day since November – all in an effort to raise funds for the Dungloe Community Hospital Patient Comfort Fund.

Elaine has successfully raised almost €8,000 online with many more donations to be counted up for the official total. (Donations can still be made at : https://www.gofundme.com/f/dungloe-hospital-patient-comfort-fund or in person at Total Health in Annagry, where Elaine is the pharmacy manager).

And not only that, but she has reaped the personal benefits of sea swimming by improving her physical and mental health, as well as losing 4 stone.

Sharing her joy after Saturday’s swim, Elaine said: “I would like to thank from the very bottom of my heart everyone who joined me on the pier in the Boatstrand Carrickfinn and to each and everyone who has donated to this amazing charity.”
