The North West Breast Cancer Charity Ball was another sell-out success on Friday night last at the Silver Tassie in Letterkenny.
This great fundraiser has become one of the social nights of the year, celebrating local services and creating hope for the future of cancer treatment and care.
Money raised at the ball supports research at Breast Centre North West, including the employment of research fellows during the summer months. Research carried out at Breast Centre North West has been presented at national and international meetings.
Funds are also used to support patient comfort at the clinic as well as aspects of community care, including an outreach programme to those recovering from breast cancer.
Noel Cunningham was the inimitable MC for the evening.
Letterkenny’s own Ciara Doherty, presenter of The Tonight Show on Virgin Media, was one of the special guests on the night. Ciara was accompanied by her Mum Kate Doherty whom the committee presented flowers to on the night.
Renowned Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon Mr Peter Barry, who is currently based in London, also visited Donegal for the event and for an information seminar on the awareness of the family impact of breast cancer.
Guest danced the night away to Red Alert band.
The event was once again generously supported by all who attended and by businesses who donated raffle prizes. A thrilling auction added superb sums to the fundraising total, which will be shared in due course.
