The first ever Dubai Mary, Adele Morgan, was last night announced as the new Mary from Dungloe by compere Daniel O’Donnell.

Originally from Glasgow, she is a teacher at Sharjah English School in the UAE.

Adele was chosen at last night’s gala crowning event at Ionad Spóirt na Rosann.

“Her grace, talent, and spirit truly shone bright at the 56th Mary from Dungloe International Arts Festival,” said festival organisers.

Adele replaces 2022 Mary, Caitlin Finn, who was born in London but grew up in Ballybofey.

Host Daniel has been a long-time host and ambassador of the Mary from Dungloe Festival. Seán Ò’Baoill from TG4, who streamed the event live, was co-presenter.

The Mary From Dungloe International Arts Festival is a community-based festival that has been held annually since 1967.

The newly-crowned Mary will have her first official appearance today at the 61st Meenacross Agricultural Show.
