It’s that time of year when we are searching for unique gifts, and Donegal Bees have come up with something very special.

The award-winning Glencolumbkille beekeeping company has launched its own range of high-quality 100% beeswax candles for Christmas 2022.

The Irish Wildflower range is named after the pretty flora and fauna from around the Donegal countryside that bees source their nectar from to create their wax. Their beeswax foundation sheets are rolled in Glencolmcille and hand-crafted into all-natural candles. They have a floral honey scent, all thanks to the way the bees create their wax.

The benefits of beeswax candles are vast, says Áine Curran, co-owner of Donegal Bees.

“From the seed to the flower to the bee to the hive, we are taking a natural product and turning it into a healthy natural candle,” she said.

“Beeswax candles are known to purify the air when lit, aiding in stress relief and eliminating odours with its natural honey-like scent.

“Our wax is rolled in-house into 7 candle sizes. They have a huge burning time and burn brighter and cleaner than regular candles.”

Donegal Bees have a candle to suit every budget, from €6.75 up, and all candles are carefully packaged in a gift box.

The story of each candle is as remarkable as its quality. Every step of the process is done in Ireland, so when you light a candle, you can reflect on the hard work that went into the creation by local bees and local crafters.
