There has been a huge rush of support for Ballyshannon woman Monica Quinn, who is in critical condition in Greece.

Monica, who has cancer, took ill during a family holiday in Rhodes this week.

As Monica remains in hospital care, her family issued an urgent plea for help to cover the cost of transporting her home safely. That plea has been answered tenfold.

Almost €40,000 has been raised in 24 hours to support the Quinns in their hour of need. It is hoped that a target of €47,000 can be reached to secure an air ambulance for Monica to return home to Ireland for further treatment.

Monica’s daughter Aisling wrote on GoFundMe: “Our mum, wife, sister and dear friend Monica is currently in critical condition in Rhodes Greece. Monica has pancreatic cancer and was cleared to go to Greece on a holiday for a week with family and friends. Unfortunately during her time in Greece Monica took ill and was taken into hospital where her condition worsen and now is in critical condition and unable to travel back home on a commercial flight.

“Monica can only travel home by air ambulance which is a huge financial cost that the family is unable to pay for alone.

“We are pleading with anyone to please take a moment and help Monica come home.”
