A pioneering Donegal woman is about to embark on an exciting new journey after retiring from the Donegal branch of Women’s Collective Ireland.

Finola Brennan has been a trailblazing activist for women’s rights, equality and support for 20 years through the local organisation that was formerly known as NCCWN Donegal Women’s Network. The project adopted a new name and strategic plan last month.

As Project Coordinator, Finola was at the fore of events and initiatives supporting women from all walks of life.

The Women’s Collective team held a celebratory lunch and presentation yesterday to wish Finola well on her retirement.

They said: “The Donegal Team wish her all the best and thank her for all her hard work and dedication to women’s equality for over two decades. She has been a role model and great support for so many women over the years.”

Finola was presented with special gifts, including a thoughtfully-made resin clock by former Donegal team member Lisa Hughes.

Danielle Bonner, an active Development Worker within the group, will take up the mantle as the new Project Coordinator.

Congratulations and best wishes Finola
