A Donegal pub is fast becoming a foodie favourite after being named Pub of the Year in the Georgina Campbell Irish food and hospitality awards 2021.

The prestigious awards are held in high esteem by the hospitality industry.

The well-known Olde Glen Bar in Carrigart is celebrating today after being named ‘Pub of the Year.’

The bar has been enjoying rave reviews this summer after Chef Ciaran Sweeney stepped into the kitchen. The Glen Bar now boasts the perfect combination of traditional pub cosyness with a modern restaurant offering honest and hearty food with a delectable twist. The bar opened deluxe accommodation this year, Clara’s Cots, to give guests a true Glen welcome.

Describing this year’s awards as “a kind of love letter to Irish food and hospitality,” editor and publisher Georgina Campbell paid tribute to those who work in the industry.

Other Donegal winners were Arnolds Hotel in Dunfanaghy, who scooped the prize for Best Activity Breaks offered by a Three-star Hotel.

Magee 1866 also weaved success this year with an award for soft furnishings. Magee throws have been spotted in many outdoor dining settings in recent months.
