The creative students of LYIT’s Fashion with Promotion degree are on a race to the runway this April.

The graduating Fashion with Promotion students are each walking 100km this month to raise money to make their end of year showcase a true showstopper. Visit the GoFundMe campaign at: https://gofund.me/465733a2

The students have already adapted to the many challenges of this year to design outstanding collections that they can’t wait to show off.

Now in its sixth year, the programme’s annual graduate fashion show shines a light on the talented students determined to cut it in the industry. The 2021 production, which will be presented online, has been part-funded by LYIT and Local Enterprise Office Donegal, but students want to go the extra mile in order to cover the excess costs of what’s sure to be a thrilling showcase.

Professionally showcasing their fashion ranges on the runway is crucially important for students as they lay the foundations for their career in fashion.

As plans are being crafted for the show itself, Fashion with Promotion lecturer Sharon Maxwell said she couldn’t be more proud of this year’s resilient cohort. Students swapped the college studio for home spaces and quickly adapted to online learning and tutorials.

“The students have been doing great work on their collections and indeed all their modules throughout this year and we want that to be celebrated,” Sharon said.

“This graduate show is different, it’s about shining a light on the resilience and determination factor that every student has shown.”
