The generous local community has already raised €3,000 for Jasmine's daughters.

A new fund has been set up by the heartbroken friends of Jasmine McMonagle, the young Donegal mum who was murdered in her home.

Tragic Jasmine, aged 28, was killed at her home in Killygordon on Friday morning last.

She leaves behind her close family and friends but also her two beloved daughters Skye, aged 8 and Luna, aged 18 months.

Now, friends of Jasmine’s have come together in a bid to raise money for any future counselling the little girls may need.

The little girls were in the house when Jasmine died, shortly after she telephoned Gardaí about a domestic incident at the family’s home at Forest Park just after 4am.

Her children are now in the safe care of Jasmine’s family. The support fund has quickly gained traction and, after just a day, the friends have managed to raise almost €3,000 of a €5,000 target on their Go Fund Me page.

The friends said: “We are close friends of Jasmine’s sister Jenna and we have set up this fundraising page to lend support to Jasmine’s family in these difficult days.

“We realise that there is nothing that can be said or done to take away the pain of losing a cherished mother, daughter, sister and friend such as Jasmine.

“However, we hope that with the help and generosity of the local community we can slightly ease the financial pressures on the family at the moment.

“Jasmine has two beautiful daughters aged 8 and 1 who have been left without their mother in the most terrible of circumstances.

“All money collected will go directly to Jasmine’s family for the care of Skye and Luna and to fund any counselling services they may need.

“We appreciate any donation, no matter how big or small. R.I.P. Jaz”

Jasmine was buried following funeral mass at St Mary’s Church in her native Castlefinn on the Donegal border on Monday morning last.

Her former partner, Richard Burke, aged 27, has been charged with her murder and will appear again at Harristown Court this Friday.
