Donegal Women's Centre is hosting a celebration of International Women's Day with the launch of an important community group.

This March 8th will see the establishment of a dedicated support group for local women in black and minority ethnic communities.

The group, to be launched in Letterkenny, was formed by the NCCWN-Donegal Women’s Network in collaboration with Donegal Women’s Centre and the Donegal Intercultural Platform.

The day will be a celebration of history and cultures at the Donegal Women’s Centre, Port Road, Letterkenny. Women are invited to wear their traditional dress for the event this Thursday, from 12.30 p.m.-2.30 p.m.

Mary Maguire of the Donegal Women’s Centre will deliver the opening welcome. Local Historian Dr Angela Byrne will be the guest speaker, giving an input on International Women’s Day and Women’s Suffrage.

The event will also include input from women from the floor highlighting important dates from women in their country, before the official launch of the Women’s Black & Minority Ethnic Support Group.
