Yesterday was a special family occasion for the McDermott family from Inishowen with a special appearance on RTE's Today Show.

Niamh McDermott

Celebrity chef Brian McDermott’s daughter Niamh took charge of the studio kitchen and proved she is every bit the foodie pro as her father.

The 15-year-old cooked up a delicious dish of meatballs with spaghetti and bolognese sauce for presenters Daithi O Se and Maura Derrane, while giving an insight into life in the home of a top Irish chef.

There was a big Donegal representation on Today, as mum Brenda McDermott and Niamh’s sister Aoife were all in the studio, while two of the Today Show cameramen are also from the county.

Niamh showcased an Italian spaghetti and meatballs recipe she created herself. She was assisted by dad Brian, who was proud as punch with her TV debut.

Daithi interviewed Niamh as she cooked, revealing her interesting life cooking alongside top celebrity chefs. They spoke of how Brian’s new cookery book will contain selected recipes from both Niamh and Aoife.

Daithi also joked that  No Salt Chef Brian could be swiftly replaced!

“Brian thank you very much, because this is the last time you’ll be on the show, Niamh is coming back down,” Daithi said.
