The La Maison designers have been inspired to host an interior design advice clinic in aid of Cancer Care West Support Centre after creating a homely, cosey space for patients and their families in Letterkenny.

‘A bright, welcoming, accessible space’ is how the new Cancer Care West Support Centre in Letterkenny has been described.

This is exactly the brief La Maison Interior Design Letterkenny had worked to over the last six months.

The Centre has been established as an outreach from a similar Centre attached to Galway National University Hospital. The Centre is open to patients, survivors and families of patients from diagnosis and treatment through to survival and beyond.

The Centre provides information and advice, counselling and nursing support through their highly trained, experienced staff including a Clinical Psychologist and a dedicated Oncology Nurse.

Additional treatments offered include reflexology, yoga, etc and all services are free of charge.

One of the most important aspects is that clients feel free to drop in for a chat and a cuppa. Hence the décor brief was very much around providing a welcoming, relaxing and most importantly non-clinical interior.

Claire from La Maison worked extensively with the Cancer Care West team to create a calm and relaxing colour scheme of soft lavender and relaxing greens.

The Treatment and Therapy rooms have calm shades and textures with soft grey carpets, warm wall colours and restful fabrics.

The common area is zoned to accommodate a country kitchen and dining area, an information library and several individual seating areas for groups and one to ones. This zoning is cleverly created through the commissioning of moveable library units, which can be removed to accommodate a full yoga class.

The space is versatile and flexible yet entirely warm and homely. Local art and soft rugs help to create an overall softness.

La Maison is honoured to be part of the Cancer Care West journey in the North West and we plan to help and support the team there in whatever way we can.

To that end we are planning a one-day Interior Design Advice and Consultation Clinic in La Maison, Canal Road, Letterkenny. Cost €25 with all proceeds to Cancer Care West Support Centre on Saturday 21st October. Be sure to book in advance on (074) 916 1694.
