While we don't want to burst any bubbles, there's a small set back with the release of this wonder drink.

There could well be a stampede of Prosecco fans looking to stock up on Lidl’s new launch this week.

The supermarket is introducing ‘Organic Prosecco Spumante’ – a seemingly hangover free bubbly that will hit shelves in the UK this Thursday, October 12th. It’s just in time for party season when we call for any excuse to toast to a holiday.

It will retail at £7.99 – not too high a price to pay for a fresh morning-after!

What’s the story then? How does this drink deliver the buzz of sparkling wine without a niggling headache the next day?

Lidl’s master of wine, Richard Bampfield, explains how it all works:

“We’ve all had that shocking wine hangover. This is sometimes attributed to the sulphite preservatives used in wine to keep them fresher for longer.

“Generally, organic wine producers use a lower level of sulphites in the production process, which means they are less likely to contribute to hangovers.

“So if you don’t react well to sulphites you could be saying good riddance to hangovers with Lidl’s Organic Prosecco Spumante.”

Sounds good to us! But here’s the bad news…

Donegal Woman reached out the Lidl Ireland to see when we can expect bottles in our local stores. A spokesperson confirmed that, unfortunately, it won’t be sold in Irish branches.

We’ll have to add it to our Christmas wish list then so!
