Labhaoise Clarke and Chloe McDaid go through the ropes for Irish finals on Friday night at The National Stadium in Dublin

Carndonagh ABC’s Clarke, who celebrated her 18th birthday this week, is aiming for a tenth Irish title, while Little Miss Dynamite McDaid, from the Illies Golden Gloves, goes to win a title for the second time.

Clarke won her ninth Irish title this month when she was awarded a walkover win in the Irish Colleges Championships.

That was the only title of the nine won by walkover. This Friday, Clarke takes on Shauna O’Callaghan from Clann Naofa in the Youth final at 57kgs.

At the weekend, Clarke defeated Jobstown’s Chelsea Curley on a unanimous decision in her semi-final.

McDaid last year was the Irish Girl 3 50kgs champion, winning a first national crown with a win over Sinainn Glynn from County Offaly.

After an emphatic win over Ardagh Cross puncher Nicola Murphy at the weekend, McDaid now faces St Michael’s Leah Richardson in Friday’s Junior 54kgs final.

Ciara Craig from Dunfanaghy ABC lost out to Mary Geraghty from Baldoyle in a Youth 54kgs quarter-final, while Orinte Ringyte of Riverstown defeated Jessica Clarke from Carndonagh in a Youth 51kgs semi.
