Valentine’s Day needn’t be a scary thought when it comes to choosing somewhere to dine. Donegal restaurants and hotels are well-prepared for the occasion and have designed some delicious special menus for Valentine’s weekend and the big day on Tuesday.
From fresh flowers to lover’s desserts, here is a selection of the best offers in the county. Make sure to book quickly so you don’t miss out and end up with disappointment, or even a broken heart!
Romance at the Red Door
The Red Door Country House in Fahan have a set menu running on Sunday 12th and Tuesday 14th February from 5pm. It’s €45pp, which includes a chilled glass of bubbly, sorbet to cool you down if your date is too hot and a sharing platter to keep things sweet for dessert. Click here for the full menu.
Feel like a true royal couple at Solis Lough Eske Castle
Let you and your loved one be treated like a king and queen at Solis Lough Eske Castle.
From 6pm on February 14th, you can have a romantic candlelit dinner in Cedars Restaurant. Price: €60.
There are some luxurious Valentine’s packages at the 5-star castle from 12-16th February which includes chocolate-dipped strawberries and Prosecco in your room, a rose petal turn down and even the option of having a special Valentines Cocktail prepared in your suite by a mixologist. Decadent delights at Castle Grove Country House
The lavishly beautiful Castle Grove Country House outside Letterkenny have a five-course dinner menu with wonderful choices on February 11, 12 and 14. Sumptuous servings at Restuarant Sage
The top-class Restaurant Sage in Letterkenny is perfect for delectable top-quality Irish food. Special occasion menus are their forté. This year’s Valentine’s menu is a mouth-watering selection of dishes with canapes on arrival for €28.95pp.

Enchanting escape at Harvey’s
Harvey’s Point is a no-brainer if you are looking to treat your date this month. You can’t get much better than the number one hotel in Ireland, as crowned by TripAdvisor. Harvey’s Point are helping lovers escape on a lavish break or evening meal on the shores of Lough Eske.
On Valentine’s Day there will be some exquisite extras for dinner, with roses for the ladies and a lover’s dessert for sharing.

Cosy up in Teac Jack
Teac Jack in Derrybeg offer a seaside location and a brand new experience for Valentine’s Day diners. The residence will be re-opening their dining room for the occasion next weekend and revealing some brand new decor.
