Somehow we’re always shocked when winter comes around and we suddenly realise how cold it is. The seasons changing is a fact of life, but we’re always so reluctant to accept winter weather.

One thing we do enjoy about these nippy days is the chance to update our scarf collection, bringing bright colours, warmth and cosy materials to our outfits. Layers are a lifesaver when the temperatures plummet. As well as the practical protection they bring from the elements, scarfs add an instant pop of style to any plain coat or outfit.

We’ve picked out seven scarves available this month to keep your necks nice and toasty. From faux fur to on-trend metallics, we can mix and match scarfs to add variety and have some sort of fashion fun when we have to wrap up.

ASOS, Miss Selfridge, M&S and more are stocking some handy collars and stoles to add on top of plain coats, which can make it look like your outerwear collection is endless. Tartan prints will always be a favourite way to bring a classic heritage look to your outfit. Go for pom poms and tassle add-ons if you want to keep things playful and interesting.

Skinny scarves may not be the most warming, but they make for an excellent accessory to wear indoors and for workwear – especially handy when your office is a bit draughty.
