Moments of sorrow and pride were shared at the Donegal Dublin Association’s Gala Ball for the 2022 Donegal Person of the Year.
‘The People of Creeslough’ were the joint recipients of this year’s title, which paid tribute to the village’s response to the tragedy of Friday 7th October.
“The hospitality, kindness and offers of assistance to both neighbours and strangers in the days that followed was incredible. In its darkest of days, the strength of Creeslough’s community shone through. We remember those who lost their lives, think of the bereaved, the emergency services, the first responders and the many individuals and businesses who did whatever was asked of them and much more,” the committee said.
Four hundred people gathered at the Bonnington Hotel in Dublin for a night filled with heartfelt speeches, touching moments, breathtaking music and an overwhelming sense of community spirit.
