But, trust me, I've been there, there is always hope and you're never alone although you feel very very lonely and you find it very hard to reach out. Trust me, you're never alone in your feelings. Thanks to Pieta, there is always someone you can reach out to when you need someone to listen. And when somebody does listen, life always gets better. The night cannot last forever and after the darkness there is always the sunshine - a new day full of fresh starts and a new possibility. Hang in there. You came this far and you can go farther. Thank you so so much for listening."

Senator Flynn, who lives in Ardara, is helping to shine a light on mental health as she serves as an ambassador for Darkness Into Light Sunrise 2021. This special event, Pieta's biggest fundraiser, aims to unite people whilst still physically apart.

The event takes place on May 8th this year, and you can walk, run, swim, hike, bike or simply share One Sunrise Together for Darkness Into Light, as organised walks are not possible due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Donegal's lottie_dolls will celebrate #WorldDownSy Donegal's lottie_dolls will celebrate #WorldDownSyndromeDay2021 with the launch of a new doll with Down syndrome.

The ‘Rosie Boo’ doll is another step towards inclusion and celebration of difference.

The doll was inspired by six-year-old Rosie Barnett in England, whose parents made the headlines during lockdown when they built a full-sized version of the Lottie Doll Treehouse in their back garden!

"It’s incredibly powerful for kids to be able to see a doll in their likeness but equally it’s important that all kids have a diverse toy box," says Ian Harkin, the founder of Lottie Dolls company Arklu.

See more about Rosie Boo on DonegalWoman.ie

Rosie Boo is available to pre-order on eu.lottie.com now. A $1 donation from each sale will be paid to Rosie’s local charity Andover 21, which provides support to children with Down’s Syndrome, and their families, from birth and through school.
