Acclaimed Donegal fiddler Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh has joined the line-up of an inspirational and empowering series of online concerts in aid of Women’s Aid.
The Meitheal na mBan series, broadcasting on TG4’s YouTube channel, will virtually unite Ireland’s top female musicians and artists in a much-needed fundraiser to support victims of domestic abuse.
Gweedore native Ní Mhaonaigh will be performing a concert directly from home as artists reach musically across the virtual divide to stand with those who are at their most vulnerable at this time.
The second programme of the series will broadcast on TG4’s YouTube channel on Wednesday the 27thth of May at 9.30pm. This week’s show include performances from Mary Black, Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh and Róisín O.
Some of the musicians performing on the series include Mary Black, Sharon Shannon, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, Julie Fowlis, Nell Ní Chróinín, Lisa O’Neill, Bronagh Gallagher, Wyvern Lingo, Cliona Hagan and Cathy Jordan.
Women’s Aid has experienced an increase of 60% in calls to the National Freephone Helpline in recent weeks during the Covid-19 lockdown. Now the services of Women’s Aid are needed more than ever.
