Buncrana designer Bernie Murphy has tapped into her creativity to present a stylish solution to covering up roots.

This is the Donegal Flexi ‘Cabin Fever’ Hairband – a uniquely thick tweed accessory that keeps unwanted greys and colour under wraps.

Bernie’s bright idea came from having an abundance of tweeds in her studio due to many Covid-19 order cancellations. She decided to put a new twist on her popular hairbands to meet customers’ current needs while hairdressers remain closed.

“One customer requested a bespoke head band as the traditional style did not suit her double crown. One thing lead to another and now I am producing and selling the tweed Donegal Flexi Hairband all over Ireland,” Bernie said.

Bernie has also fashioned some extra feel-good factors into the bands with a charity partnership and gift initiative.

“In recognition of the work done during this time by the ISPCC in supporting children for whom is home is not a haven, we are donating €2 from each hairband to Childline.

“In addition, everyday a nominated front line worker also receives a Hair Band in recognition of their selfless work.”
