Donegal nurse and model Grainne Gallanagh has made it through to the quarter finals of Dancing with the Stars Ireland after a tense dance-off.

The Buncrana woman found herself in the bottom two this week and had to face off against Mary Kennedy and her dance partner John Nolan to stay in the RTE competition.

But the judges voted for Grainne to stay another week, bringing Mary Kennedy’s journey on the show to an end.

Grainne and her dance partner Kai Widdrington performed a gothic Paso this week, earning a score of 25 points. The judges asked for a little more drama, and the former Miss Universe Ireland certainly ramped up the mood of the performance for the final dance-off.

Posting on Instagram, Grainne said tonight was “Probably my most difficult dance yet, but I loved it.”

Dancing with the Stars continues next Sunday on RTE One as the competition heats up for the quarterfinals.
