A local artist’s successful auction has raised a fantastic €600 to help her friend during her battle with cancer.

Angie Doherty from Ballybofey has been having treatment for bowel cancer for the past two years. She underwent major surgery this week and is currently recovering in the Mater Hospital in Dublin.

As Angie and her family explore alternative treatment options, her community has taken action to help ease the financial burdens they face.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched this month to support Angie and over €12,750 has been raised so far.

Meanwhile Angie’s friend, artist Veronica Maguire, donated one of her beautiful Drumboe paintings to an online auction. The auction took place last week and the successful bidder was local businessman Joel O’Leary.
