Inver baker Samara Ward is about to earn a crust from her award-winning bread when it hits the shelves in Aldi this weekend.

Samara’s Brown Bread was the winner of this year’s National Brown Bread Baking Competition at the National Ploughing Championships in September.

Samara Ward from Inver, Co. Donegal at The National Brown Bread Baking Competition, sponsored by Aldi and in association with the National Ploughing Association (NPA) and the Irish Countrywomen’s Association (ICA).

There was one entry from each county in Ireland, but Samara’s loaf rose to the top as it impressed judges for its depth and texture.

And now we can grab a slice or two when it goes on sale in 140 Aldi stores nationwide from this Saturday, 14th December, priced at €1.69.

‘Samara’s Brown Bread’ is being baked daily by one of Aldi’s long-term bakery suppliers, Stapleton’s of Roscrea, Co. Tipperary.

Samara will receive a percentage of the profits from the sale of the bread this year, guaranteed to be at least €15,000.
