The NCCWN-Donegal Women’s Network wants to hear from you.

The NCCWN-Donegal local women’s group is hosting an event next week to ask the question: Donegal women, do you feel represented? Are women fairly represented in politics?

On Wednesday 9th October, 11am-2pm, the NCCWN is hosting an event in the Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny to look at representation of women in public life.

A number of inspiring speakers will attend the Social Inclusion Week event, including Dr Cathy Higgins, an Educator and Researcher and Thoiba Ahmed, a Community Activist who ran as a first time candidate in the 2019 Local Elections.

They will be giving insight into the current reality for women in public life, sharing experiences of what it is like to run for election and how we can bring diversity to local decision making.

There will also be an Extra ‘Special Guest’ from the Makeyuppers who’ll be joining the day and giving a few good laughs too.

“We believe it’s important women from all diverse backgrounds, cultures and life experiences feel and have their voices heard. We are therefore organising this event as part of Social Inclusion Week, an opportunity to hear from women and learn how they feel their voices, values and experiences are heard,” said an NCCWN spokesperson.

“This is an open event so please feel free to just come along, listen, learn and help us see what action/s we can take collectively to gain a real sense of solidarity for women.”
