Brave Donegal girl Lucy Gallagher is to appear on RTE’s Nationwide this evening.

Lucy, from Maghery, is the only person in Ireland to have a rare genetic skin condition called Harlequin Ichthyosis.

The seven-year-old returned to Scoil Roisin where she is now in first class.

When Lucy was born the team at Nationwide visited Lucy and now they will report on the amazing progress Lucy has made in those seven years.

Lucy Gallagher and her parents Gary and Carleen are joined by Daniel O’Donnell to celebrate Ichthyosis Awareness Month 2019 at Scoil Roisin

A camera crew recently spent the day in Scoil Roisin to highlight the extraordinary girl that Lucy is and the wonderful children and staff of the school community. Lucy’s classmates and teachers also held an ‘Ichthyosis Awareness Month’ in May to learn about the condition and celebrate everyone’s individuality. Signing star Daniel O’Donnell joined the special celebrations.

School principal Ms Siubhan Ni Fhearraigh is encouraging people to tune into the show which airs this evening on RTE One at 7pm.
