Amazing prizes were awarded at Saturday night's celebration.

Letterkenny man Bryan Margey has won a €1,000 holiday after making an outstanding effort in the 2019 Rushe Fitness Summer Shape Up Challenge.

The ever-popular Summer Shape Up is Letterkenny’s largest fitness challenge. Led by Rushe Fitness gym owner Emmet Rushe, the programme helps participants get in shape while completing fun challenges to win amazing prizes

The end of summer celebration took place on Saturday at Century Complex Letterkenny, where Bryan Margey was announced the Champion in front of over 50 of his fitness family.

He was presented with the grand prize of €1000 holiday from Emmet and Maria Rushe, owners of Rushe Fitness.

Bryan was awarded the grand prize based on his positive approach to the challenge. A busy husband and father, Bryan still made time for all of the challenges, for his training in the gym and for his own running adventures. His constant encouragement of his fellow gym goers, both inside the gym and in the members’ group, was acknowledged by everyone.

Bryan also pushed his fellow members on outside of the gym; following and motivating Colm Richardson through the final lengths of his 555 endeavour, and helping the Rushe Fitness crew around the Tough Mudder course. Bryan’s positivity to everything and everyone in Rushe Fitness is wonderful to see, and he always has the right words for his friends in the group.

One of Emmet’s main mottos is that you must step outside of your comfort zone in order for the magic to happen, and Bryan constantly pushed the limits of his. The raucous roar and applause from the crowd was a testament to just how delighted everyone there was to see him take the title.

Second Prize was for the person who achieved the biggest lifestyle and physical change and was a €500 holiday voucher, sponsored by the challenge partners, Atlantic Travel.

It was presented to the very deserving Noreen Lynch. Noreen’s constant drive and determination was infectious. She attacked the Summer Shape Up from every angle, again incorporating the challenges into her family’s busy life and her results speak for themselves.

Other prizes were kindly sponsored by The Shandon Hotel and Spa, Harvey’s Point, Mountain Warehouse, Brian Mc Cormick Sports and Leisure, Century Letterkenny and were presented to other members for various achievements and accomplishments throughout the challenge.

Speaking to Donegal Daily, Emmet said “We had a fantastic celebration of our members last night. Obviously, I wish I could have given everyone a prize. Every single one of them is a winner. Whether they’ve just begun on their fitness journey, or have been in our fitness family for the past 5 years, we appreciate every one of them and are proud of them all. They’re an incredible bunch of positive people, each with busy lives and their own stuff going on, and this challenge has reminded me of just how special the Rushe Fitness Community is.”

Emmet also thanked Emma at Atlantic Travel for once again being partners in this year’s challenge. He thanked his team and all of the supporters and sponsors of prizes, as well as the team at Backstage for hosting a great event.

Photographs were taken by Joanne Gallinagh Photography and the event was streamed live on the Rushe Fitness Page where it has been viewed by over 5000.

Emmet and his members are looking forward to beginning the next phase of their fitness journey with the next block of classes beginning on September 16th.
