One of Donegal's hardest working and most committed community volunteers has been recognised on National Volunteering Week.

Katie Callaghan is at the centre of all aspects of community life in the ‘Crossroads and Killygordon’ and has been for decades.

She is involved in looking after St. Patrick’s Church, the local Community Hall, the weekly bingo and is a former caretaker of ‘Dromore National School.’

As part of ‘National Volunteer Week’ which runs 13th to 19th May, Minister Joe McHugh TD and Garvan Connolly (Fine Gael Stranorlar-Lifford MD) took time out of a busy election campaigning schedule to acknowledge the tireless work and commitment of Katie to her community.

There could be no better way to mark the week than to celebrate one very special citizen.
