Pre-entry venues for the fundraiser have been confirmed.

There are just three weeks to go until the 2019 RunDonegal Women’s 5K on Sunday, March 31st in the Twin Towns, but organisers are confident they can secure the biggest ever entry numbers in 2019.

The annual event is in aid of the Brid Carr Fund for Ovarian Cancer Research.

Brid was a much-loved Glencolmcille woman who died from Ovarian Cancer at the age of 54. After her death, Brid’s family carried on her admirable work in raising awareness of ovarian cancer. The Brid Carr Fund for Ovarian Cancer Research has gone on to support students in exciting discoveries in the field of cancer treatment.

As momentum continues to grow for RunDonegal 2019, it has been announced that taking part can pre-enter at a number of venues across the county.

Entries will be taken at the Falcarragh Parkrun on Saturday, March 16th (time to be confirmed), the Royal & Prior Raphoe on Monday, March 25th at 6.50 pm and Letterkenny Community Centre on Tuesday, March 26th from 5 pm to 7 pm. Entries are also being taken on an ongoing basis at the Finn Valley Sports Centre, while online entries are being taken through Eventbrite.

When the event was launched at the start of the year, organisers revealed they were aiming to attract an entry of 1,000. With three weeks to go, race director Grace Boyle says they’re on track to secure the biggest ever entry.

“RunDonegal has grown to become a well established event where women come out and take part in a women’s only event. We had almost 800 taking part last year and with a big push this year, we are hopeful we can reach the 1,000 figure. 1,000 entries means €10,000 for the Brid Carr Fund – so that remains our objective,” Grace comments.

“We are calling women of all ages to walk, jog or race the 5K. It has also grown to become a great family day and hopefully the weather will be kind to us again.”

All participants will receive a specially commissioned t-shirt, sponsored by London-based businessman, Tim Kelly. Entry fee is €10. Those not running but wishing to make a donation can do so by visiting www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bridcarrfund
