Gardaí have today finished a local search as part of the investigation into the disappearance of Deirdre O’Flaherty.

The land excavation at a site in Milford was called off without any new findings.

Ms O’Flaherty (aged 46), a GP from Tyrone, disappeared in January 2009 while staying in Moville.

The latest search for Dr O’Flaherty was sparked this week following information given to Gardaí by a member of the public.

Members of the Donegal Divisional Search Team and Garda Technical Bureau along with private contractors carried out the 5-day search.

“Unfortunately nothing that furthers the search for Deirdre was located during the search. The site is on private property and remains closed to the public,” said a Garda spokesperson.

“Today, is also the 10th anniversary of the disappearance of Deirdre and our thoughts are with her family and friends and it is requested that the privacy of her family is respected at this time.”

“Gardaí have renewed their appeal for anyone who may have information in relation to Deirdre’s disappearance to contact Buncrana Garda Station on 0749320540 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111”
